Will I really get good photos through the plastic?
Yes!
The special optical quality hard lens Aquapac has built right into the case makes it very easy to get great shots.
And the sturdy but flexible material allows you to operate all the essential
camera controls through the case.
Okay,
not every photo is going to be perfect. But we're all used to that
aren't we! Most of the time nobody will be able to tell you were using
a case. Tips For Taking Great Photographs
|
Using
an Aquapac case is a bit like taking a photograph through your window
at home. First of all the window needs to be as clean as possible. Even
with a clean window you may notice some reflection, but the closer you
hold the camera lens to the window, the less the reflection.
Similarly Aquapac cases give best results with the lens window tight
against the camera lens.
Try to avoid flash photography but if
you do need to use the flash make sure that the case is tight over the
flash so the light doesn’t reflect back into the lens.
Keep the lens window clean and avoid scratching it. Try to look after it the same way you look after your camera lens.
It
takes a bit of practice and a little luck to get really good underwater
photos - please don't think that every shot you take is going to make
the cover of Sports Diver magazine. You need strong sunshine and clear
water. The middle of the day is best, when the sun is at its highest.
Best results will be just below the surface. Light disappears quickly
as you go deeper, as do colours (one of the advantages of a digital
camera is that you can retouch your photos afterwards to replace
colours lost underwater). Flash rarely works underwater. Not because of
the Aquapac, but because the flash tends to reflect off particles in
the water itself. Even clean water is full of microorganisms and other
particles. The less water between you and your subject, the less
difference this will make and therefore the clearer your shots are
likely to be. Wide lens and close up is the secret. |

Opening and closing the Aquaclip
The
Aquaclip sealing system has been tested by the British Standards
Institution and named 'Millennium Product' by the design council. It
makes the case airtight, dust-tight, and 100% Waterproof to at least
15ft/5m. The levers must be properly sealed for the case to be
waterproof. Make sure there's nothing caught in the clamp which might
stop it from sealing properly - including sand - and always turn all
the levers as far as they will go. If you are using your case
underwater be very careful to make sure that all the levers remain
closed at all times.
The Bubble Test
Before
using your Aquapac for the first time please check that it got to you
in perfect condition. Seal something of no value inside, then submerge
in a basin. A few air bubbles may escape from the clamp, this is okay,
water can get into the clamp without getting into the case. But if a
stream of bubbles escapes when you squeeze it, you may not have locked
the Aquapac fully or there may be a problem. If the Aquapac has
moisture in it after this test dry our fully and retest to ensure that
the case was done up correctly.
Common Sense Caution
The
Aquapac case has to be intact if it is to maintain protection. The
flexible material is made of special polymers which are very strong,
but can still get punctured. Avoid sharp abraisive objects.
The Aquapac Lens Window
Aquapac
camera cases incorporate a lens window made from an optically-clear
material called LENZFLEX. Treat these windows as carefully as possible,
avoid scratching or folding the Aquapac over this area.
SLR Camera Aquapac's
You can take pictures through the hard lens window on the case as it is made of an optical quality plastic. The coloured material around the outside is thinner
and therefore a little easier to operate the controls through.
In Hot Weather
Don't
leave your case out in the sun for prolonged periods. Although the case
hase been UV-Stabilised, which means the plastic won't be discoloured
or broken down by sunlight, the case won't protect anything inside it
from heat or sunlight. If it is particularly humid you may want to
insert desiccant sachets to absort any condensation.
In Cold Weather
All Aquapacs are okay to a temperature of -15°F/-25°C but the material may harden in freezing temperatures.
